Yipp Films, in partnership with Tyneside Cinema and Northern Lights Film Festival, is seeking this year’s Northern Stars! Northern Stars Film Academy is now open to aspiring filmmakers aged 15-18 years across the North East of England. The training programme runs from January-August 2008 and members will learn the ins and outs of filmmaking and production working with filmmakers and industry professionals from across the country. James Nesbitt stars in the latest of Yipp Films’ commercials for ASDA. In his role as Wine Trainee he travels to France with ASDA’s Master of Wine, Philippa and then launches the Mini Tasters range from the ASDA store in Pudsey, Leeds. Yipp Films has been commissioned by FIVE to produce an hour long documentary for it’s leading documentary strand ‘Hidden Lives’. The film looks at love and marriage in modern Britain. Filming commences on Harry Wootliff’s short film Trip from August Bank Holiday. Harry won the Orange North Star short film prize as part of the Northern Lights Fim Festival in November 2006. Yipp Films latest ASDA commercials, Milk are now on air. Directed by Patrick Collerton and Produced by Iris Maor they feature comedian Paul Whitehouse as a trainee Milk Monitor. The ads have already been awarded pick of the week in Campaign Magazine, which said “selling milk to customers by calling it ‘cow juice’ is genious.” Posted 12.6.2007
Daniel Elliott’s 3 Minute Wonders, Where There’s A Will, are to air over four days from Tuesday 29th May. Daniel’s emotional four films, showing how people deal with their mortality through their wills, will be shown on Channel 4 at 7.55pm Tuesday to Thursday and Friday at 12.30pm.
Congratulations to Emily Barber whose set of four 3 Minute Wonders, I Am What I Spend, aired on Channel 4 at 7.55pm during the week of May 14th. Her sensitive and moving series portray North Eastern people summing up their lives through receipts. Posted 25.5.2007
Yipp Films has produced the first of a series of commercials for leading supermarket ASDA. The first collection of ads feature Victoria Wood working in an ASDA bakery in Boldon. They are directed by Patrick Collerton and produced by Iris Maor. Filmmaker Beadie Finzi’s ambitious documentary for More 4 is to be produced by Iris Maor at Yipp Films. The film examines the business of humanitarian aid and asks whose life do we value and why. Filmed on location in the US, Europe and Southern Africa, the film will unravel the forces at work, charting the players and decision makers who actions will determine the fate of millions.
