Natwest MoneySense

Yipp is producing the new campaign for NatWest bank. Filming in Croydon, Liverpool and Newcastle, bank staff and customers combine together in a refreshing, documentary style series of ads around the Moneysense initiative. Patrick Collerton directs, Val Campbell produces. Posted 30.12.2008

The Hunger Season on More 4

Yipp’s Films latest production for More 4 goes out on Tuesday 16th Dec at 10pm. This feature length documentary, part of the True Stories strand, examines the system of food aid and question the extent of our commitment to ending hunger. The Hunger Season forces us to consider the relationship between our governments, NGO’s and the fate of countries in the developing world. The film was filmed over 2 years on location in the US, Europe and Southern Africa, and is directed by Beadie Finzi and produced by Iris Maor and Jessica Edwards. Posted 12.12.2008

The Hunger Season Hits the Festival Circuit

Yipp Films’ latest feature documentary, looking at the issues about and around food production and food aid, will have its world premier at Planet in Focus – Canada’s acclaimed international environment film festival. TRIP continues it’s journey

TRIP has got a busy schedule ahead for September and October. The film will screen at Uppsala Film Festival, Milano Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Marbella Film Festival, Cambridge Film Festival and Ourense in Spain.Posted 10.9.2008

New Head of Development Joins Yipp Films

Ben Whitfield, an experienced Development Producer, has joined Yipp Films from Diverse as Head of Development. Ben will be in charge of all of Yipp’s factual development output and will work alongside Patrick Collerton to generate new projects for the company.

Latest Film Festival News

TRIP will screen at DokuFest in Kosovo. Festival dates are 9-13th August. After Kosovo we are heading to LA Shorts Fest for more festival fun. LA Shorts dates are 15-21st August.

The Hunger Season website goes live

A website dedicated to exploring the important and complex issues raised in The Hunger Season goes live today. The aim of the site is to enhance understanding of the arguments raised in the film and to give people the opportunity to find out more about what their own country is doing about food aid.

There are many exciting ways to get involved, so keep checking the site for the latest news. Please go to www.hungerseason.org now - and please - spread the word.

This year Yipp Films celebrates its 10 year anniversary. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that have helped make the company what it is today - you know who you are.

TRIP World Tour continues!

TRIP has been selected to screen at Tofifest in Poland. Festival dates are 5-11 July. The next stop is London where TRIP is in the official shortlisted selection at Rushes, Soho Shorts. Festival dates are 23rd July - 1st August. Then it’s off to the US to screen at DC Shorts Film Festival in Washington. Festival date are 11-18th September.

The Russians warm to TRIP

TRIP has been selected for participation in the International Competition of the 18th Message to Man International Documentary, Short and Animated Films Festival. The Message to Man Film Festival will be held in St. Petersburg on June 15-22, 2008. Posted 23.5.2008

Wedding Addicts confess all on Five

Yipp’s Films latest production for FIVE goes out on digital channel FIVER on Thursday 15th May at 9pm and on FIVE on Thursday 22nd of May at 11pm. This hour long documentary, part of the Hidden Lives strand, looks at love and marriage in modern Britain. It is an insight into why some people simply cannot stop walking down the aisle again and again. It is directed by Vicky Crawley and executive produced by Patrick Collerton. Posted 13.5.2008

Northerns Stars explores the region

NewcastleGateshead’s contribution to Portrait of a Nation sees the Northern Stars Young Persons’ Film Academy delivering a film making project. Backed by Tyne & Wear Museums and Tyneside Cinema 13 young filmmakers will engage with various youth groups across the region to use film to explore their roots, heritage and celebrate local identity and pride. TRIP shines on

TRIP won the Shine Award at Bradford International Film Festival at the weekend. The award honours an emerging filmmaker for producing the best short film. Judge chairman Neil Young, international consultant for BIFF, said: “Concision and economy are the hallmarks of the best short films. These qualities are skilfully combined, via particularly impressive camerawork and performances, in our winning film this year.” Posted 21.3.2008

Emily has series success at the RTS

Emily Barber has won best Factual Series at the RTS NE awards 2008 on February 23rd. It was an unanimous vote from the judges for her series of 3 Minute Wonders for C4 - I Am What I Spend. Posted 25.2.2008

TRIP up North

TRIP will screen as part of The Shine Short Film Awards at Bradford International Film Festival from 29th February. For more details about the festival and for screening times please go to the Bradford International Film Festival website. Posted 25.2.2008

The Hunger Season goes to Scandinavia

Yipp Films’ feature length documentary, The Hunger Season, has been picked up by Finnish channel YLE. The film will be finished in April and will be shown in Japan, Australia and Finland - as well as on More 4 - later in the year. Posted 25.2.2008

TRIP plans world tour

TRIP has been selected to be screened as part of the short film programme at Britspotting 2008. The festival will take place in Berlin 10-16th April and will be touring in April and May in selected cities in Germany.

TRIP is due to screen at various festival worldwide this summer and autumn. Details will follow nearer the time. Posted 25.2.2008

TRIP to Berlin

TRIP has been selected for Berlin Film Festival 2008! Around 1,700 people applied to Berlin this year and TRIP was chosen as one of the 30 films that will screen there in less than a month! Go to the Berlin Film Festival site for more details. Posted 22.1.2008

Northern Stars Film Academy kicks off

Young budding filmmakers from all over the North East of England were auditioned and although the quality of applicants were high, 17 of the most talented were selected to join this year’s Northern Stars Film Academy. Their training programme has already started and they will be meeting weekly to attend practical workshops from scriptwriting to directing and sound. They are working with lead filmmaker Andrew Coats and a selection of film professionals to make their first short films. Posted 22.1.2008
